Trump Appoints Former Fox News Figure to New Post

State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce received warm applause from members of the press Tuesday after delivering heartfelt closing remarks at her final briefing — just days after President Donald J. Trump nominated her to serve as deputy ambassador to the United Nations.

“We’ve been up here for almost an hour now, and I have a few things to say which involve all of you to some degree,” Bruce began, acknowledging her surprise at the president’s decision.

“So you have no doubt seen President Trump’s Truth Social post announcing his intention to nominate me as his deputy ambassador at the United Nations. His intention was a surprise, as was his request last Christmas asking me to become the spokesperson at the State Department,” she said.

Bruce, who took the role just over six months ago, reflected on her tenure. “I was astounded then and remain deeply honored and grateful for the president’s trust in me. This is especially moving as it allows me to continue serving the State Department — to which I am now quite attached — and our great country on the global stage of the United Nations.”

She reminded reporters of her commitment from day one: “During my first press briefing, I promised you and the American people that my commitment would always be to speak directly and clearly about President Trump’s America First policy agenda and its implementation by Secretary of State Marco Rubio.”

In closing, Bruce thanked Rubio, her team, and the press corps — even poking fun at their “occasional haranguing” — before saying, “I look forward to continuing to serve with you, as well as support you from New York and beyond. Thank you, everyone. That’s it for today.” Reporters responded with applause as the briefing ended.

President Trump formally announced her nomination last week, praising her record. “Tammy Bruce will represent our Country brilliantly at the United Nations,” he posted on Truth Social, calling her a “Great Patriot, Television Personality, and Bestselling Author” who had done a “fantastic job” at the State Department.

Bruce’s new role comes as the Trump administration sharpens its focus on Venezuela. Secretary of State Marco Rubio recently condemned dictator Nicolás Maduro during the country’s municipal elections, vowing continued U.S. support for restoring democracy. “Maduro is not the President of Venezuela and his regime is not the legitimate government,” Rubio declared, reinforcing the administration’s hard line on the socialist strongman.

With her next assignment at the UN, Bruce will carry forward the America First agenda on one of the world’s most visible stages — a role that will keep her at the forefront of advancing U.S. sovereignty and confronting America’s adversaries abroad.
