Trump Attacks Taylor Greene At Rally Ahead Of Her Exit From Congress
President Donald Trump delivered sharp criticism of Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., during a rally Friday in North Carolina, just days before Greene is set to depart Congress following a turbulent period inside the Republican conference.
Speaking to supporters at a campaign event in Rocky Mount, Trump openly questioned Greene’s political direction and temperament, referring to her as a “stone cold liberal” and “highly neurotic,” according to Mediaite. The president suggested that his once-close relationship with the Georgia lawmaker unraveled over what he characterized as her frustration that he did not return her phone calls often enough.
Trump told the crowd that the responsibilities of the presidency make constant communication with individual lawmakers unrealistic, noting that he manages relationships with hundreds of members of Congress, dozens of senators, foreign leaders, and his own family.
“You can’t call a president every single day,” Trump said, adding that Greene began airing grievances publicly after he stopped responding as frequently.
Greene recently announced her resignation from Congress after months of escalating conflict with GOP leadership. She has increasingly attacked fellow Republicans on issues such as affordability, health care policy, and the handling of the Epstein files, moves that have drawn criticism from within the party.
Trump said Greene claimed she was stepping down to avoid what she described as a “hateful primary” backed by him, a characterization the president rejected outright. During the rally, Trump mocked Greene with the nickname “Marjorie Traitor Brown,” explaining, in his words, that “green turns to brown under stress.”
“What the hell happened to her?” Trump asked the crowd, pointing to her frequent appearances on CNN as evidence that she had drifted away from conservative voters and Republican priorities.
Later in his remarks, Trump again described Greene as “highly neurotic” and dismissed media narratives portraying her resignation as an act of courage. According to Trump, real courage would have meant staying in the race and facing voters directly.
“No, brave would be to stay,” Trump said, adding that he would have endorsed a primary challenger capable of defeating her. Greene has not publicly responded to Trump’s comments.
Greene’s departure will leave an open congressional seat in Georgia, a development expected to trigger an aggressive and crowded Republican primary as GOP candidates compete to hold the district.
Meanwhile, Greene is reportedly being discussed internally as a potential future host on ABC’s daytime talk show The View, according to multiple individuals familiar with the matter. The discussions are said to be preliminary, with no final decisions made. Greene has not commented publicly on the reported talks, and ABC has not confirmed any casting plans.
The speculation follows Greene’s first guest appearance on The View on Nov. 4, which sources say prompted conversations among producers about her on-air potential. A producer for the show told the Daily Mail that Greene is being considered as a possible long-term addition, though no immediate plans exist.
“Never say never,” the producer said when asked whether Greene, 51, could eventually join the panel.
According to the same source, Greene’s off-camera demeanor surprised staff and co-hosts alike. “She was actually really lovely behind the scenes – no one expected that,” the producer said.
The insider also cited increased audience engagement during Greene’s appearance.
“And I know that we had a lot more social media engagement that day. Before she was on, I’d have been like ‘absolutely not’, but now I could see the vision if they decided to go that route,” the source continued.
While emphasizing that no decision is imminent, the producer said Greene is being taken seriously as a possible future option. “I don’t think it’s in the immediate plans or anything, but she is definitely someone who would be on a shortlist,” the insider said.
Another source familiar with the show downplayed the likelihood of Greene joining in the near term, noting the current lineup and saying “the table is full.”
