Trump Enjoying Highest Approval of Any 21st Century President: CNN

President Donald Trump has notched another political first in his second term, according to a new analysis from CNN data reporter Harry Enten.

During a Friday segment, Enten said Trump currently has the highest approval rating from his own party of any president this century at the same point in a term.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt highlighted the finding in a post on X, sharing a clip of Enten’s report.

“Eighty-six percent of Republicans approve of the job that Donald Trump is doing at this point,” Enten said.

“That is higher than either [Barack] Obama or [George W.] Bush had within their own party at this point,” he added.

Enten said Trump’s hold on Republican voters remains unusually strong.

“Trump’s magic touch has not seemed to wore [sic] off yet,” Enten added.

Enten did not present President Joe Biden’s comparable approval rating within his own party at the same point in his presidency.

The CNN analysis comes as Trump’s overall approval rating has also climbed to its highest level of the year following the administration’s push to end the war with Iran, according to a new Daily Mail/JL Partners survey.

That poll found Trump with a 47% approval rating and 53% disapproval, marking his strongest showing since late February and his highest approval rating of 2026.

The rebound is notable after Trump’s approval spent the previous three months around 43%, following a low point of 42% in mid-March.

Pollsters suggested the improvement may be tied to growing public approval of the administration’s effort to wind down the nearly four-month conflict with Iran, along with falling oil and gasoline prices.

The survey was conducted June 19-21, shortly after Trump attended the G7 summit in France, where ending the Iran conflict became one of the central issues.

At the summit, Trump repeatedly argued that ending the war would improve global stability, reopen critical energy routes, and lower costs for American families.

Those efforts culminated in a memorandum of understanding extending the cease-fire between the United States and Iran while negotiators continue working toward a broader peace agreement.

Financial markets responded positively, and gas prices continued to fall.

According to AAA, the national average price for a gallon of regular gasoline has dropped from $4.52 to $3.93.

Trump celebrated the trend in a Truth Social post Tuesday.

“19 millions barrels of oil flowed out of the Hormuz Strait yesterday, an all time record,” Trump wrote.

“Oil prices are tumbling down, and the world is a much safer place!”

The latest polling suggests voters may be connecting lower energy prices and improved economic confidence with the administration’s foreign policy.

JL Partners founder James Johnson told the Daily Mail that Trump’s handling of Iran appears to have directly affected public opinion.

“President Trump appears to have got a direct approval bump from the Iran deal, putting him on his second-highest rating of the year so far,” Johnson said.

“That makes sense, given we know voters see a clear link between gas prices and the Iran conflict being open.”

The numbers also show a clear shift from just one month earlier.

A Daily Mail/JL Partners poll conducted in May found that 59% of respondents believed the economy was getting worse while energy prices remained elevated.

Republicans continue to stand overwhelmingly behind the president.

The latest survey found that 82% of Republican voters approve of Trump’s job performance.

Independent voters remain more divided, with 38% approving and 52% disapproving.

Among Hispanic voters, Trump posted a 45% approval rating compared with 41% disapproval.

White voters gave the president a 46% approval rating.

Black voters registered 38% approval and 48% disapproval.

The polling comes during a period of high visibility for the Trump administration.

In recent weeks, the president has presided over America 250 celebrations, announced plans for a UFC event at the White House, celebrated the opening of the World Cup, and continued negotiations aimed at securing a lasting peace framework with Iran.

For conservatives, the numbers confirm what Trump’s supporters have argued for years: despite constant media attacks, criminal investigations, foreign policy crises, and establishment opposition, his bond with the Republican base remains unmatched.

The CNN finding is especially striking because it comes from a network rarely accused of favoring Trump.

Yet even CNN’s own data analysis shows the same reality.

Trump’s Republican support is not fading.

It is historically strong.

And as gas prices fall, Iran negotiations continue, and the administration projects strength abroad, Trump’s broader approval numbers are now moving in the right direction as well.
