Trump’s ‘No-Nonsense’ DC Crackdown Tops 10k Arrests: ‘Unchecked Violence Is Over’
President Donald J. Trump’s aggressive push to restore law and order in the nation’s capital is producing dramatic results, according to new figures obtained by Fox News Digital.
Since its launch in August 2025, the administration’s “Make D.C. Safe and Beautiful” Task Force has carried out more than 10,000 arrests and removed over 1,000 illegal firearms from the streets—marking one of the most sweeping federal crime crackdowns in modern history.
The initiative, created through a Trump executive order earlier in 2025, has brought together an unprecedented coalition of federal and local law enforcement. Led operationally by Gadyaces S. Serralta, the effort includes roughly 3,100 personnel from 28 agencies, including the FBI, DEA, ATF, U.S. Park Police, National Guard, and D.C.’s Metropolitan Police Department.
The Department of Justice praised the operation’s success in a statement:
“President Trump’s federal surge in Washington, D.C. has saved lives and helped restore our Nation’s beautiful capital city for all Americans to enjoy. Thanks to the brave work of Gady Serralta’s Marshals, our other DOJ components, and our great federal partners, we have proven that tolerating crime is a policy choice — we choose public safety.”
According to the data, the task force has made 10,018 arrests and seized 1,036 illicit firearms. Those arrests include individuals tied to some of the most serious offenses: 28 homicide suspects, 1,693 narcotics offenders, 874 weapons violators, and 52 known gang members.
The operation has also had a humanitarian impact, with law enforcement locating or recovering 19 missing children during the crackdown.
U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro underscored the administration’s zero-tolerance approach:
“The ‘era of unchecked violence is over,’” Pirro said. “President Trump’s decisive no-nonsense strategy to restore law and order, the federal surge of law enforcement resources, combined with aggressive prosecution of violent offenders, is delivering real, measurable results. I came here to fight street crime in the nation’s capital, and since then, homicides have fallen to historic lows, and violent crime has dropped dramatically. Those who prey on our communities are being arrested, prosecuted, and convicted.”
The results appear to back up those claims. Compared to the same period in 2025, violent crime in Washington, D.C. has fallen sharply—down 31% overall, with robberies dropping 47%, sexual abuse cases down 64%, and murders plunging 68%.
The crackdown followed a surge in violent crime during the COVID-era years, including a wave of armed carjackings and youth-related offenses that rattled residents and exposed failures in local leadership.
Nationwide Crime Drops Reinforce Trump’s Law-and-Order Agenda
The improvements in Washington come amid a broader national trend: violent crime is declining across major U.S. cities, reinforcing the Trump administration’s emphasis on public safety and strong policing.
Data from the Major Cities Chiefs Association, which tracks crime across 67 of the nation’s largest police departments, shows significant year-over-year declines in 2025:
- Homicides down 19%
- Robberies down about 20%
- Aggravated assaults down nearly 10%
Some of the most dramatic improvements were seen in cities that were hardest hit during the pandemic-era crime surge. Orlando and Tampa led the nation with homicide declines exceeding 50%, while cities like Denver, Seattle, Honolulu, and Albuquerque also posted substantial drops.
Meanwhile, major urban centers such as Chicago and Baltimore saw roughly 30% decreases in homicides, with Memphis and Portland not far behind.
The White House highlighted the trend as a historic turnaround:
“These gains build on earlier reports showing America’s cities are now safer than they’ve been in over a century under President Trump’s leadership. The murder rate in the nation’s biggest cities has fallen to its lowest level in at least 125 years — marking the largest single-year drop in recorded history.”
The statement continued:
“This is the direct result of President Trump’s aggressive, no-nonsense approach to public safety. By surging federal resources to Democrat-run cities that had devolved into war zones, removing savage criminal illegals from our streets, supporting police and prosecutors, and rejecting the Radical Left’s weakness, President Trump’s decisive actions have turned the tide, saved countless lives, and restored peace to communities long abandoned by Democrat politicians who prioritized criminals over citizens.”
As crime declines both in the capital and nationwide, the administration is framing the results as a clear validation of a law-and-order strategy centered on enforcement, accountability, and support for law enforcement—an approach that stands in stark contrast to the policies of previous years.
