WATCH: New Dashcam Footage Exposes Major Inconsistencies in Alec Baldwin’s Car Crash Story

A newly released dashcam video is casting serious doubt on actor Alec Baldwin’s explanation of a recent car accident — and it’s not the first time Baldwin’s account of an incident has faced scrutiny.

The crash occurred Monday in East Hampton, New York, and the footage, obtained by Newsmax, tells a story that appears starkly different from Baldwin’s.

In an Instagram video, Baldwin claimed he had been “cut off by a garbage truck the size of a whale” and that the incident caused him to drive into a “big, fat tree.”

However, the dashcam video from the truck involved paints another picture entirely.

What the Video Shows

According to The New York Post, the video captures a National Waste Services truck making a right turn onto a two-lane road from what looks like a residential complex. After completing the turn, the truck continues along the road for about eight seconds before edging toward the shoulder.

Moments later, Baldwin’s car is seen veering right and slamming into a tree — well behind the truck.

That brief time gap makes Baldwin’s claim that the garbage truck “cut him off” highly questionable. As Newsmax pointed out, the video seems to directly contradict Baldwin’s description of events.

Celebrity Spotlight and Familiar Controversy

Baldwin’s reputation as one of Hollywood’s most outspoken critics of President Donald J. Trump — in an industry already saturated with anti-Trump sentiment — has ensured that nearly everything he does lands under a microscope.

But this incident, especially when viewed alongside Baldwin’s past legal troubles, has reignited skepticism about his credibility.

Many remember Baldwin’s 2021 involvement in the tragic shooting death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of his film Rust. At the time, Baldwin claimed the gun fired accidentally and that he never pulled the trigger. That explanation was widely doubted by firearm experts and prosecutors alike.

Although a judge later dismissed a manslaughter charge against him, the incident permanently altered public perception of the actor — and this latest controversy isn’t helping his case.

Public Reaction

Social media lit up following the release of the footage, with many users ridiculing Baldwin’s version of events and suggesting a pattern of shifting blame.

Still, a handful of commenters defended Baldwin, claiming the truck driver was at fault for pulling into the roadway and slowing down unexpectedly.

At this point, Newsmax reports that no citations have been issued in the crash.
