Democrat Lawmaker Under Fire After Telling ICE to ‘Get the F— Out’ Amid LA Riots
A California Democrat is facing a firestorm of criticism—and mounting calls for expulsion from Congress—after issuing a shocking anti-ICE statement during violent protests in Los Angeles.
Rep. Norma Torres, a Democrat representing California’s 35th Congressional District, posted a now-viral TikTok on Friday during a wave of unrest tied to federal immigration enforcement actions. Her message, blunt and incendiary, read: “ICE get the f— out of LA so that order can be restored.”
Torres, who immigrated from Guatemala before becoming a U.S. citizen in the 1990s, has come under sharp scrutiny for what critics say is open incitement against federal officers. The backlash from conservative leaders and influencers was immediate and overwhelming.
“This is a sitting member of Congress,” noted the popular conservative account Libs of TikTok on X.
“Torres is a sitting member of Congress and a complete lunatic,” added conservative commentator Paul Szypula.
“Demonic possession,” said White House Director of Communications Steven Cheung in a post.
“Found a Communist in Congress,” posted author and cultural critic James Lindsay.
“Arrest her now,” demanded the account Catturd, echoing sentiments from grassroots conservatives across the country.
Others went further. Arizona State Sen. Wendy Rogers and numerous X users are calling for Torres to be expelled from Congress for what they describe as seditious behavior. Conservative commentator Stephen L. Miller simply posted: “Make it an ad.”

The outrage came as President Donald J. Trump—currently serving his second term in the White House—vowed tough consequences for those attacking law enforcement amid the chaos.
From the tarmac in New Jersey, the president, standing beside Secretary of State Marco Rubio, addressed the media before boarding Air Force One: “We will not allow these mobs to harass our officers and destroy our cities. There will be consequences.”
On Saturday, President Trump deployed over 2,000 National Guard troops to Los Angeles, responding decisively after California Governor Gavin Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass refused to intervene, even as ICE agents were physically assaulted and vehicles torched.
In addition, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth placed 500 Marines at Camp Pendleton on standby for rapid deployment if the situation escalates.
The president is also weighing the use of the Insurrection Act to reestablish law and order if state authorities continue to abdicate their responsibilities.
Meanwhile, former Vice President Kamala Harris—still clinging to the failed policies that defined her losing campaign against President Trump—issued a predictably tone-deaf statement attacking the federal response.
“Los Angeles is my home. And like so many Americans, I am appalled at what we are witnessing on the streets of our city,” Harris said.
“Deploying the National Guard is a dangerous escalation meant to provoke chaos,” she claimed, insisting that the protests were “mostly peaceful,” despite injuries to ICE personnel, the destruction of federal vehicles, and the looting of downtown businesses.
Harris went on to accuse the Trump administration of “spreading panic and division”—a familiar refrain from the party that sat idly by while cities burned under leftist mobs.
The facts on the ground tell a different story. According to law enforcement sources, the protests quickly devolved into violent riots, with demonstrators spitting on officers, damaging public and private property, and targeting federal immigration officials with harassment and physical attacks.
A report released Sunday identified a coordinated network of left-wing groups as key instigators of the unrest—fueling growing calls for accountability and federal prosecution.
As of now, President Trump remains unwavering: federal agents will continue to enforce the law, and those who obstruct them—whether radical protestors or lawless lawmakers—will face the consequences.
