Video Shows Moments Before ICE Agent Fatally Shot Minneapolis Woman

Federal authorities on Friday released body-camera and cellphone footage capturing the tense moments leading up to the fatal shooting of a Minneapolis woman by a federal immigration agent — footage officials say supports claims of self-defense amid mounting political backlash.

The video, made public two days after U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent Johnathan “Jon” Ross, 40, fatally shot Renee Nicole Good, 37, shows a rapidly escalating confrontation during an ICE operation in a residential neighborhood.

Footage from an ICE agent’s perspective shows Good’s Honda Pilot stopped in the middle of the street, appearing to intentionally obstruct traffic as agents approached. At one point, Good is heard calmly telling an officer, “That’s fine, dude. I’m not mad,” despite repeated commands to move the vehicle and leave the area.

Body-camera video also shows Good’s wife, Rebecca Good, filming the encounter on her cellphone while verbally confronting federal agents. Both women appear to ignore multiple lawful orders to clear the scene.

Rebecca Good is heard taunting officers, demanding they reveal their identities and mocking them, saying, “You want to come at us? You want to come at us? I say go get yourself some lunch, big boy.”

An agent is seen circling the vehicle to check the license plate before another officer approaches the driver’s side and orders Renee Good to exit.

“Get out of the car. Get out of the f—— car,” the agent commands while reaching toward the steering wheel.

Moments later, video shows Good backing up and then accelerating forward toward the agent wearing the body camera, who had positioned himself directly in front of the vehicle. The agent is heard saying “whoa” before multiple gunshots ring out.

Good’s SUV continued down the street and crashed into a parked vehicle roughly 100 feet away. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

In a statement released Friday, Rebecca Good acknowledged that the couple had deliberately stopped near federal officers.

“On Wednesday, January 7th, we stopped to support our neighbors. We had whistles. They had guns,” she said.

The shooting has ignited fierce criticism from Democrats and left-wing activists targeting President Donald Trump’s administration, with renewed attacks on ICE enforcement operations in Minneapolis. Federal officials, however, have stood by the agent, stating he acted in self-defense and characterizing the incident as an act of domestic terrorism.

Democratic leaders have disputed that assessment, with much of the debate focusing on whether the agent was actually struck by the vehicle.

Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, a Democrat, wrote in a New York Times op-ed that President Donald Trump’s assertion that Good “ran him over” was inaccurate.

“I’ve watched multiple videos, from multiple perspectives, it seems clear that Good was trying to leave the scene, not attack an agent,” Frey wrote.

Federal officials counter that Ross had previously been seriously injured in a separate vehicle-ramming incident while on duty last year, leaving him “scarred” and acutely aware of the threat posed by vehicles used as weapons. Authorities acknowledged that video from Wednesday shows the agent walking without visible impairment immediately after the shooting.

Law enforcement sources also said Good had been following and harassing ICE agents earlier that day. She was identified as a Minneapolis-based immigration activist affiliated with a group known as ICE Watch.

Homeland Security officials told Fox News the group actively monitors and interferes with federal immigration enforcement operations and operates in multiple sanctuary cities nationwide. According to sources, Good became involved with the group after moving to Minneapolis within the past year and later participated in so-called “ICE Watch Warrior” missions after forming relationships with parents at a charter school her child attended.
